When your air conditioner quits in July, it is not a small problem. A system that cannot keep up runs longer, costs more and wears out faster, and it usually fails on the hottest day of the year.
RCI has been repairing air conditioners in the OKC metro for 27 years. We are family-owned, we service all brands, and we get to most calls the same day, depending on demand. If a repair is the right answer, that is what we do. We do not push replacement on a system that has years left.
Signs your AC needs repair
Most air conditioners give warning before they die. Catching it early usually means a smaller repair.
- Running but not cooling, or blowing warm air
- Weak airflow from the vents
- Frozen coils or ice on the refrigerant lines
- Short cycling, turning on and off every few minutes
- Running longer than normal to reach the thermostat setting
- Some rooms consistently warmer than others
- Rattling, buzzing, grinding or squealing
- Bills climbing without any change in how you use the system
What usually causes it
Oklahoma heat puts a heavy load on cooling equipment, and that load exposes weak spots in the equipment, the airflow or the controls. Most repairs come down to one of four things.
- Airflow restrictions: a dirty filter, blocked return or restricted duct run lowers output even when the equipment is fine
- Worn components: long summer run cycles wear parts down, and they fail when demand peaks
- Thermostat or control problems: a thermostat reading wrong or set wrong makes the system cycle oddly or cool unevenly
- Ductwork limits: leaks, poor balance and old duct designs are the most common cause of uneven cooling
Why not wait
Small problems get expensive under load. Ignoring early symptoms means higher cooling bills, faster wear on the compressor and other major parts, a shorter system life and a much better chance of a mid-summer breakdown.
Because we run our own sheet metal shop, we can fix duct problems too, not just point at them. That matters in older homes, remodels and buildings with rooms that never cool evenly.

Most air conditioners can be repaired and put back to work. Replacement is worth a conversation if:

My AC is running but the house is still hot. What is wrong?+
It is usually one of four things: restricted airflow (dirty filter, blocked return, bad duct run), a worn or failing part, a thermostat problem, or ductwork that leaks or is out of balance. A diagnostic visit sorts out which one.
Do you offer same-day AC repair?+
In most cases, yes. It depends on how busy the season is and what the problem is, but we prioritize no-cooling calls.

Yes. We service all brands of residential and commercial equipment.
How do I know whether to repair or replace?+
If repairs are becoming frequent, the system struggles every summer and you are looking at a big repair bill on an older unit, replacement usually makes more sense. If it is one failed part on a system in decent shape, repair it.
