Heat pump installation and replacement, sized right the first time
A new heat pump only performs as well as its sizing and ductwork. We handle both, from evaluation to startup, for homes and businesses.
One system that heats and cools is a practical fit for Oklahoma, where the weather can't decide what it wants to do. Installed and sized correctly, with ductwork that can keep up, a heat pump holds steady temperatures through both seasons and does it efficiently.
RCI has installed and replaced heat pumps for 27 years. We're family-owned, we work with all brands, and we'll tell you honestly whether you need a new system or just a repair. If a repair is the smarter spend, we say so.
We do this for homes and for offices, retail, and other commercial spaces that need consistent performance across zones during operating hours. A commercial upgrade is an operational decision as much as a comfort one, and we plan it that way.
When to think about replacement
Most heat pumps give warning before they die. Replacing on your schedule beats replacing during a heat wave. Watch for:
- Repairs are getting more frequent
- Heating or cooling has clearly fallen off
- It can't hold a steady temperature
- Run times and utility bills keep climbing
- Some rooms are always off from the rest
- It short cycles and never settles
- It's in the late stage of its service life
New installation vs. replacement
A new installation is for new builds, major remodels, additions that need their own system, or a property moving from an older type of equipment. A replacement means pulling an aging or unreliable heat pump and putting in one with better efficiency and the right capacity.
Either way, the work that matters happens before the equipment shows up: picking the right system, sizing it correctly, and checking that the ductwork can support it.
Why sizing matters
Bigger is not better. An oversized heat pump short cycles, never runs long enough to even out temperatures, and wears itself out starting and stopping. An undersized one runs long, heavy cycles, can't keep up in extremes, and burns energy under constant load. We size to your space, how you use it, and what you want it to do, not to a rule of thumb.
Ductwork and airflow
Plenty of problems blamed on the equipment are really leaking duct connections, unbalanced airflow, undersized or outdated duct design, or returns that can't move enough air. We run our own sheet metal shop, so we can fix those as part of the job. Pairing duct corrections with a replacement is often the difference between an average upgrade and one you actually notice.
What a new heat pump gets you
Then keep it that way. A new system still needs a pre-summer and a pre-winter check to stay efficient and catch small issues early.
- Steadier temperature control
- A smooth handoff between heating and cooling seasons
- Better efficiency and less wasted energy
- Fewer mid-season breakdowns
- Comfort in rooms that used to struggle
- More reliable years ahead
What to expect
How a heat pump installation & replacement call goes
- 1EvaluationWe look at your current system if there is one, talk through comfort problems and goals, and check the ductwork.
- 2Honest recommendationWe explain your options in plain language, with real costs, and let you compare without pressure.
- 3Removal and installationWe remove the old equipment safely and install the new system with attention to the details that decide how long it lasts.
- 4Airflow and performance checksWe confirm the system runs correctly in both heating and cooling and that airflow reaches every room.
- 5WalkthroughWe go over filters, thermostat basics, seasonal maintenance, and anything else you'll need to know.
Should I repair or replace my heat pump?+
It depends on what failed, what the repair costs, how reliable the system will be afterward, its overall condition, and your budget. If a repair is safe and practical we'll recommend it. If replacement is the better investment, we'll show you why.
Do I need new ductwork with a new heat pump?+
Not always. If your ducts are sized right, sealed, and balanced, they stay. If they leak, are undersized, or starve certain rooms, the install is the best time to fix them. We fabricate what's needed in our own shop.
Can you put a heat pump in an addition or remodel?+
Yes. Additions and remodels that need their own heating and cooling are a common reason for a new heat pump installation.
Do you install all brands?+
We service all brands, and we help you choose equipment that fits your space and budget rather than pushing one line.
