Humidifier repair and UV light service
If the humidifier stopped keeping up or the UV lamp went dark, we will fix it. Any brand, same day in most cases.
Humidifiers and UV lights are easy to forget. They sit in the furnace closet and run without much noise, so when one quits you usually notice the symptoms before the cause. Static is back. Your sinuses hurt in the morning. The house smells musty when the AC kicks on.
RCI repairs humidifiers and installs and services UV lights for homes and commercial buildings across the OKC metro. We have been at it 27 years, we are family-owned, and we work on every brand. If a part is the problem, we say so. If it is just a clogged water panel, we say that too.
Common humidifier problems
- Water panel scaled up with minerals and passing no moisture
- Solenoid valve stuck open or closed
- Leaking at the water line, the drain, or the housing
- Humidistat not calling, or wired wrong from the start
- Dead fan motor on a fan-powered unit
- Unit never shut off for summer and corroded inside
How UV lights work
A UV lamp mounts inside the air handler, aimed at the evaporator coil or across the supply air stream. The coil is wet all summer, and in a sealed-up house the same air crosses it over and over. The lamp treats the coil surface and the air passing it to limit microbial growth.
It will not replace a filter and it will not fix bad ductwork. On a coil that keeps growing slime, it does the job.
UV light install and service
We find a spot with a clear line to the coil, cut in the mount, and wire it to run with the blower or full time, depending on the unit. Bulbs lose output long before they burn out, so plan on a new one about once a year. We can do that during your AC maintenance visit and check the ballast at the same time.
Repair or replace?
A humidifier is a simple machine. Most of the time it is a panel, a valve, or a humidistat, and we carry those. If the housing is corroded through or the unit is old enough that parts are hard to find, we give you a straight price on a new one and let you decide.
How often does the water panel need changing?+
Once a heating season for most houses. Hard water scales them up faster, so some homes need it twice.
Is a UV light worth it if I already have a good filter?+
They do different jobs. The filter catches particles in the air. The UV lamp treats the wet coil surface where growth happens. If your coil stays clean on its own, you may not need one.
Do you service UV lights on commercial equipment?+
Yes. Rooftop units and larger air handlers take the same lamps, just more of them. We can fold bulb changes into a commercial maintenance plan.
