Whole-home humidifiers

A whole-home humidifier mounts on your furnace or air handler and adds moisture to the air as it passes through. It runs off your water line and a humidistat, so it holds a set level instead of running dry like a portable unit. You probably need one if you get:

• Dry skin and a scratchy throat every winter
• Static shocks off doorknobs and blankets
• Hardwood floors, trim, or furniture cracking
• Sinuses that feel raw in the morning
• Rooms that feel colder than the thermostat says

UV lights

A UV light mounts inside the air handler, usually aimed at the evaporator coil. The coil stays wet through the cooling season, and a closed-up summer house sends the same air across it constantly. The lamp treats the coil surface and the air stream to limit microbial growth there.

Bulbs lose output over time. We can replace them during a maintenance visit.

Filtration and the rest of the picture

Dust, pet hair, and pollen build up in a closed house. A proper filter rack, sealed ductwork, and correct airflow do more for that than any gadget. If the house is stuffy or dusty no matter how much you clean, we look at the whole system first.
