Commercial heating repair before the cold snap hits

Rooftop gas heat, commercial furnaces, heat pumps, and VRF, repaired and maintained by a crew that has done it for 27 years.

Oklahoma winters do not arrive slowly. A front comes through, the temperature drops 40 degrees overnight, and the rooftop unit that has not fired since March is suddenly the most important piece of equipment in the building. RCI has been keeping commercial heat running for 27 years.

We repair, maintain, and replace commercial heating equipment across the Oklahoma City metro: gas heat sections in rooftop package units, split-system furnaces, heat pumps, VRF, and large air handlers up to 200 tons. All brands. Same-day service in most cases.

Family-owned and run by Patrick Hicks. We tell you what is wrong, what it costs, and whether it is worth it.

Commercial heating repair

The first cold week of the year is when heating problems show up, and most of them are small parts that failed while the unit sat idle. We diagnose and fix on the first visit when we can. What we see most:

  • Igniters, flame sensors, and ignition control failures
  • Gas valves and gas pressure problems
  • Cracked heat exchangers
  • Inducer and blower motor failures
  • Limit switch and rollout trips
  • Heat pump defrost and reversing valve faults
  • Electric heat strips and sequencers
  • Thermostat and zone control faults

Rooftop units and packaged heating

Most commercial buildings in the metro heat with gas sections in rooftop package units. We service the heat side of every RTU brand, and when the unit is done we replace it with a crane-set changeout scheduled around your hours. If the building has a separate furnace or air handler with a hot water or electric coil, we work on that too.

Fall start-up and preventive maintenance

A fall visit is the cheapest heating repair there is. We fire every unit, check it under load, and fix the small stuff before it strands you in January. Heating maintenance is part of our commercial preventive maintenance programs, or we can do it as a one-time start-up.

  • Fire every stage and verify operation
  • Check gas pressure and combustion
  • Inspect heat exchangers
  • Clean burners and flame sensors
  • Filters, belts, and motors
  • Test limits and safeties
  • Written report with anything that needs attention

Airflow and duct

A furnace or heat section is only as good as the duct behind it. Long runs, undersized returns, and rooms that were added after the system was designed leave one end of the building hot and the other cold. We run our own sheet metal shop, so we can rebuild a plenum, add a return, or rework a trunk line without waiting on someone else's fabrication schedule.

Kitchens, schools, and high-occupancy buildings

Kitchens are a heating problem as much as a cooling one. Make-up air units have to heat the air they bring in, or the cook line is freezing every time the hood runs. We work on kitchen hood and make-up air systems for schools and restaurants across the metro.

Schools, churches, and other buildings with a schedule get the same treatment: we set the equipment up for how the building is actually used, not for 24-hour occupancy.

Repair, replace, or retrofit

Some heating equipment is worth fixing. Some is not. A cracked heat exchanger on a 20-year-old unit is a replacement conversation. A failed igniter on a 6-year-old unit is a repair. We give you the honest version, and where a retrofit or efficiency upgrade makes sense, we lay out what it would save.

What to expect

How a commercial heating call goes

  1. 1Call with the symptomsNo heat, short cycling, a burning smell, one zone cold. Tell us what the building is doing.
  2. 2Diagnose and quoteWe find the cause and price the fix before we touch anything.
  3. 3Repair or replaceMost repairs are done the same visit. Replacements get a written scope and a schedule.
  4. 4Test and documentWe run the unit under load, check combustion and safeties, and leave a report.

FAQ

Common questions

Something else? (405) 693-6885. You'll get a real person.

How fast can you respond to a no-heat call?+

Same day in most cases. When a front comes through we prioritize buildings that are down.

Do you work on rooftop gas heat?+

Yes. Gas heat sections in rooftop package units are the most common commercial heating equipment in the metro, and we service every brand.

Is a cracked heat exchanger repairable?+

No. A cracked heat exchanger is a carbon monoxide risk and the section or the unit has to be replaced. We will show you the crack and walk you through the options.

Can you put our heating on a maintenance program?+

Yes. Fall start-up and inspection is part of our commercial preventive maintenance programs, along with spring cooling visits.

Need heat, cool, or a straight answer?

Call, or send a note and we'll get right back to you. Same-day service in most cases.
