Indoor air quality

Whole-home humidifier installation

Stop fighting dry winter air with a portable unit. A humidifier on your furnace treats the whole house and holds the level you set.

Once the furnace starts running in Oklahoma, the air in your house dries out fast. Heated air wants more moisture than it has, so it pulls it out of everything else: your skin, your sinuses, your hardwood floors and trim. By January most houses are drier than they should be.

A whole-home humidifier fixes that at the source. It mounts on your furnace or air handler, taps into a water line, and adds moisture to the air every time the blower runs. RCI has been installing them for 27 years on every brand of equipment, in houses and commercial buildings across the OKC metro.

Signs you need one

  • Static shocks every time you touch something metal
  • Dry, cracked skin and chapped lips all winter
  • Scratchy throat or sore sinuses when you wake up
  • Gaps opening in wood floors, doors, and trim
  • Rooms that feel colder than the thermostat reads
  • Portable humidifiers you refill daily and still lose the battle

Types we install

Most houses do fine with a bypass or fan-powered unit mounted on the return plenum. Both pass air across a water panel. Steam humidifiers put out more moisture and suit heat pumps or larger homes where the blower runs a lot.

We tell you which one fits your equipment and your square footage. We do not push the expensive one if you do not need it.

What the install involves

We cut the unit into the duct, run a water line with a proper tee, set a drain if the unit needs one, and wire a humidistat so it only runs when the house calls for moisture. Because we have our own sheet metal shop, an odd plenum or a tight closet install is not a problem.

Keeping it running

The water panel needs changing once a season, and the unit should be shut off and drained in spring. We can do both during your fall furnace maintenance visit.

FAQ

Common questions

Something else? (405) 693-6885. You'll get a real person.

Will it work with my furnace brand?+

Yes. We service all brands. Humidifiers mount on the ductwork rather than the furnace itself, so nearly any forced-air system can take one.

What humidity should I set it to?+

Around 30 to 40 percent in winter for most Oklahoma houses. Much higher and you will see condensation on windows on cold nights. Once set, the humidistat handles it.

Can you install one in a business?+

Yes. Offices, clinics, and retail spaces get the same dry-air problems. Larger air handlers usually take a steam or fan-powered unit.
