Air conditioning

AC maintenance before the heat tests your system

A seasonal tune-up catches the small stuff, like dirty filters, worn parts and weak airflow, before July turns it into a breakdown.

Air conditioners rarely fail without warning. They lose a little efficiency, run a little longer, cool a little less evenly, and nobody notices until a 100-degree week exposes the problem.

A maintenance visit from RCI is a real inspection, not a glance at the thermostat. We have 27 years of experience, we service all brands, and we treat a tune-up with the same care as a big commercial job.

What a tune-up includes

Every system is a little different, but a maintenance visit generally covers:

  • Overall system operation and cooling response
  • Airflow and filter condition
  • Thermostat accuracy and settings
  • Key components inspected for early wear
  • Efficiency loss caught before it shows up on your bill
  • Stable operation confirmed under high-demand conditions
  • Duct or airflow problems that are limiting the system

Why it pays off

Oklahoma summers mean long run cycles, afternoon temperature spikes and heavy humidity. A system that seemed fine in April can fall apart in August if nobody has looked at it.

  • Fewer mid-summer breakdowns
  • Better efficiency and more predictable bills
  • More even cooling across rooms and zones
  • Small problems found before they become expensive repairs
  • Longer system life

How often

Most homes need one visit a year, scheduled before peak summer. Commercial buildings often need more, depending on equipment size, occupancy, layout, operating hours and how critical cooling is to daily operations. We can set a schedule that fits how the building is actually used.

Filters matter more than you think

A dirty filter restricts airflow, cuts cooling output and forces the system to run longer. If you have pets, several occupants, allergy concerns or heavy summer use, you probably need to change filters more often than the box says. We will help you settle on a realistic schedule.

Comfort problems maintenance can fix

Maintenance is not only about preventing breakdowns. It often clears up problems that crept in over time:

  • Rooms that never cool evenly
  • A system that runs longer than it should
  • Temperatures that swing on hot afternoons
  • Short cycling
  • Rising energy costs with no change in usage

When the ducts are the problem

Hot spots, weak vents and a system that runs constantly without reaching the setpoint are usually duct problems: leaks, restrictions or poor balance. With our own sheet metal shop, we can fix those instead of just noting them on the invoice.

A tune-up also tells you where your system stands. Whether it is still running efficiently, whether repairs are likely to increase, whether replacement should be planned, and whether airflow improvements could extend its life. If it is in good shape, we will say so.

FAQ

Common questions

Something else? (405) 693-6885. You'll get a real person.

When should I schedule AC maintenance?+

Spring, before the first real heat wave. That leaves time to fix anything we find before the system is under full load.

How often does my AC need maintenance?+

Once a year for most homes. Commercial systems often need a schedule based on operating hours, occupancy and how much the business depends on cooling.

Do you maintain commercial systems too?+

Yes. Offices, restaurants, schools and commercial buildings, including commercial kitchen hood systems and high-capacity equipment up to 200-ton air handlers.

Will a tune-up fix my hot rooms?+

Sometimes. If the cause is a dirty filter, a control issue or low output, yes. If it is the ductwork, we will tell you and can fabricate the fix in our own shop.
