Commercial cooling that holds up in July
Rooftop unit repair and replacement, VRF, mini-splits, and maintenance for buildings that cannot afford to run hot.
An Oklahoma summer finds every weak spot in a commercial cooling system. The rooftop unit that limped through June quits in the middle of a lunch rush. A server room creeps up two degrees a day. Tenants start calling. RCI has been fixing that for 27 years.
We repair, maintain, and replace commercial air conditioning across the Oklahoma City metro. All brands. Rooftop package units, split systems, ductless mini-splits, VRF, and air handlers up to 200 tons. Same-day service in most cases, because a building sitting at 85 degrees is not a next-week problem.
Family-owned, run by Patrick Hicks, with our own sheet metal shop. When the fix is a duct problem instead of an equipment problem, we can build the fix ourselves.
Commercial AC repair
Most commercial cooling failures are not mysterious. They are wear parts that were not caught in time, or a small problem that ran long enough to become a big one. We diagnose, quote, and usually repair on the first visit. The calls we see most:
- Failed compressors, contactors, and capacitors
- Refrigerant leaks and low charge
- Condenser fan and blower motor failures
- Frozen or dirty evaporator coils
- Economizer and damper problems on rooftop units
- Condensate drains backing up and tripping float switches
- Thermostat and zone control faults
Rooftop unit replacement
When an RTU is past saving, we replace it. We stage the new unit, set the crane, pull the old unit, set the new one, reconnect gas and electrical, and start it up. We schedule crane lifts around your operating hours so the building is not down during your busiest stretch.
We have done this on retail, office, and multi-tenant buildings across the metro. The photos in our gallery are our jobs, not stock.
VRF and ductless for spaces that need it
Not every building wants one big unit. We installed a Samsung VRF system at a medical clinic where each room needed its own control and the equipment had to run quiet. VRF is a good fit for clinics, offices with mixed use, and older buildings where new duct is not practical.
Ductless mini-splits handle the smaller version of that problem: a server room, a tenant suite, an addition the main system never reached.
Airflow, duct, and the sheet metal shop
A lot of buildings have plenty of cooling capacity and terrible distribution. Undersized returns, leaky trunk lines, and duct that was never balanced make a working system feel broken. We fabricate our own sheet metal, so we can fix the duct instead of oversizing the equipment to compensate.
Kitchens and high-heat spaces
Commercial kitchens are the hardest cooling job in the building. Hood exhaust pulls conditioned air out, make-up air has to replace it, and the cook line adds heat all day. We work on kitchen hood systems for schools and restaurants across the metro, and we look at the exhaust, make-up air, and cooling together because none of them work right alone.
Cooling maintenance before the heat
A spring start-up visit is the difference between a July breakdown and a July that goes fine. We put commercial cooling on a preventive maintenance program built around your equipment list.
- Coil cleaning, condenser and evaporator
- Filters, belts, and bearings
- Refrigerant charge and electrical checks
- Condensate drains cleared and tested
- Economizers and dampers checked
- Written report on every unit
What to expect
How a commercial cooling call goes
- 1Call with the symptomsWarm air, tripped breaker, water on the floor, ice on the lines. The more you tell us, the faster the fix.
- 2Diagnose and quoteWe find the cause, not just the failed part, and give you a price before we do the work.
- 3Repair or replaceMost repairs happen on the first visit. Replacements get a written scope and a crane date.
- 4Test and documentWe verify temperatures and pressures, leave a report, and offer a maintenance schedule if you want one.
How fast can you get to a no-cool call?+
Same day in most cases. During peak summer we prioritize buildings that are down over routine work.
Should I repair or replace my rooftop unit?+
Depends on age, the cost of the repair, and how often it has needed service. If the repair is sound we will say so. If it is throwing money at a unit that is done, we will say that too.
Do you work on all brands?+
Yes. We service every brand of commercial cooling equipment and carry common parts on the truck.
Can you handle the crane for a rooftop replacement?+
Yes. We coordinate the crane, the lift, and the timing so the building is back in service as quickly as possible.
