Commercial HVAC

Commercial HVAC from a crew that shows up

Repair, maintenance, replacement, and build-outs for offices, restaurants, schools, and medical buildings. Family-owned, 27 years in, with our own sheet metal shop.

RCI HVAC & Construction Services has worked on commercial buildings in the Oklahoma City metro for 27 years. Patrick Hicks owns the company and still runs it as a family business. We service every brand and handle equipment from a single split system up to a 200-ton air handler.

If you manage a facility, own a building, or run a general contracting job, you need a mechanical contractor who answers the phone, shows up when they said they would, and tells you straight whether a unit should be repaired or replaced. That is the whole pitch.

Most service calls get a same-day visit. Bigger jobs, like crane-set rooftop replacements or a new build-out, get a written scope and a schedule you can plan around.

Who we work with

We maintain several restaurants and commercial buildings around the metro on a standing basis and take on one-off repairs and replacements for everyone else. The buildings we see most:

  • Offices and multi-tenant buildings
  • Restaurants and commercial kitchens
  • Schools and campus facilities
  • Retail and strip centers
  • Churches
  • Medical and dental clinics
  • Warehouses and light industrial
  • General contractors on new construction and remodels

Equipment we install and service

All brands, all sizes. If it heats or cools a commercial building, we have probably had our hands on one like it.

We also do system evaluations and retrofits. If a system runs but costs too much, or an addition outgrew the original equipment, we look at load, duct, and equipment together and tell you what is worth changing.

  • Rooftop package units (RTUs), including crane-set replacements
  • Split systems and ductless mini-splits
  • VRF systems (we installed Samsung VRF at a medical clinic)
  • Large air handlers up to 200 tons
  • Make-up air units and exhaust fans
  • Commercial furnaces, gas heat sections, and heat pumps
  • Efficiency retrofits and equipment upgrades

Commercial kitchens and hood systems

Kitchen ventilation is one of the things we are known for. We have completed multiple kitchen hood projects for schools and we keep several restaurants running year-round.

A hood system is more than the hood. The exhaust fan, the make-up air unit, the duct run, and the balance between them all have to be right, or the kitchen runs hot, the dining room pulls smoke, and the inspector has questions. We handle the whole system.

  • New hood, exhaust, and make-up air installation
  • Exhaust duct fabricated in our own shop
  • Make-up air and exhaust balancing
  • Exhaust fan repair and replacement
  • Kitchen HVAC on a maintenance schedule

Preventive maintenance programs

A maintenance program is the cheapest thing you can buy from us. Two visits a year on most equipment catch the failed capacitor, the slipping belt, and the dirty coil before they turn into a no-cool call in July. We write the program around your equipment list and your hours, not a generic checklist.

  • Spring and fall inspections on every unit
  • Filters, belts, and coil cleaning
  • Refrigerant, electrical, and combustion checks
  • A written report with anything that needs attention
  • Priority scheduling for maintenance customers

Custom sheet metal and duct

We run a full-service sheet metal shop. Plenums, transitions, trunk lines, exhaust duct, and odd fittings come from our shop, not a supply house lead time. It also means we can fix the airflow problems behind a lot of comfort complaints in older buildings.

New construction and GC work

We work with general contractors on new commercial buildings and tenant build-outs: rough-in, duct fabrication and install, equipment set, startup, and closeout. We show up when the schedule says and we do not hold up the drywall crew. There is more on our new construction page.
