New 5-ton central air system installed at an Oklahoma City home by RCI

Air conditioning

AC installation and replacement, sized right for your space

When repairs stop making sense, we help you pick the right size system, install it properly and make sure the ductwork can keep up.

Most air conditioners give plenty of warning before they die. Repairs get more frequent, the house never quite reaches the setpoint, and the bill goes up every summer. Replacing on your schedule beats replacing during a heat wave.

RCI has installed and replaced systems for 27 years, from straightforward residential changeouts to complex commercial cooling projects. We are family-owned, we service all brands, and we will tell you honestly whether you need a new system at all.

When replacement makes sense

You may want to start planning a replacement if:

  • Repairs have become frequent
  • Cooling performance has declined over time
  • The system runs longer than normal to reach the thermostat setting
  • Certain rooms stay warm even after repairs
  • Utility bills are rising without any change in usage
  • The unit struggles most on the hottest days
  • You want reliable comfort and predictable costs

Installation versus replacement

A new installation is for newly built homes and commercial spaces, major remodels, additions that need their own cooling, or properties upgrading from an older setup. A replacement means pulling an aging or unreliable unit and putting in one that fits your current cooling needs.

Both come down to the same three things: careful planning, correct sizing and airflow that supports the equipment.

Sizing matters

Bigger is not better. We size to your real load and do not sell capacity you do not need.

  • Too small: runs constantly in high heat, struggles to cool evenly, wears out early
  • Too large: short cycles, uneven temperatures, poor efficiency, extra stress on the compressor

Ductwork and airflow

The best air conditioner will not perform if the ducts leak, are out of balance, are restricted, or were designed for a different system. We run our own full-service sheet metal shop, so we can fix duct problems as part of the install. For a lot of homes, that is the difference between 'better' and 'finally right.'

Homes and commercial buildings

Residential replacements usually start with the same frustrations: a unit that cannot keep up, uneven cooling between bedrooms and living areas, rising bills and repeat mid-season repairs.

On the commercial side we install and replace equipment for offices, restaurants, schools and commercial buildings across the OKC metro, including rooftop units and high-capacity systems up to 200-ton air handlers.

What you get from a new system

A properly sized and installed system shows up right away: more even cooling, lower energy use, fewer breakdowns, quieter operation and steady temperatures in extreme heat. Protect it with a tune-up before every summer.

FAQ

Common questions

Something else? (405) 693-6885. You'll get a real person.

How do I know if I need a new AC or just a repair?+

Look at the pattern. One failed part on a system in decent shape is a repair. Frequent repairs, declining comfort every summer and a big bill on an old unit point to replacement. We will lay out both costs and let you decide.

What size air conditioner do I need?+

It depends on square footage, insulation, windows, layout and ductwork, not just the size of the old unit. We measure and calculate rather than guess.

Do I need new ductwork with a new AC?+

Not always. But if the existing ducts leak, are undersized or are out of balance, the new system will underperform. We check, and we can fabricate what is needed in our own shop.

Do you install commercial systems?+

Yes, including rooftop and packaged units and high-capacity equipment up to 200-ton air handlers.
